Mirror, Mirror: The Journey to Finding Your Truest Love

As I pondered Byron Katie’s profound words, “Do you want to meet the love of your life? Look in the mirror,” a familiar realization washed over me. We spend so much of our lives searching for fulfillment in external sources, be it love, success, or approval. Yet, the true essence of what we seek lies within us. It’s a journey inward, to the core of our being, where the love of our life patiently awaits our recognition and embrace.

This morning’s tarot draw once again revealed the “Big Bold Vision” card, a constant reminder of the inner calling that’s been with me since a fateful day in middle school. That day, a man’s heart-wrenching story about the tragic consequences of a desire to fit in planted a seed within me. He ended his narrative with a song, “I can see clearly now the rain is gone,” igniting a hidden dream in my young heart. Despite my immediate dismissal of this dream, it clung to the recesses of my mind, resurfacing at a moment when life itself hung in the balance.

The dream I almost buried whispered to me when I was about to give up on life: “What if you lived for yourself?” This question marked the beginning of a profound transformation, a journey from seeking external approval to discovering my own desires, my own voice. My ‘Big Bold Vision’ wasn’t about seeking fame or validation; it was about sharing my story, my truth, and embracing the calling that resonated with every fiber of my being.

Yet, doubt often creeps in, questioning the purity of my motives. Is this ego-driven? Or is it the authentic expression of my soul? Each time these doubts arise, I’m reminded of my beloved boxer, Otis. In my eyes, Otis is perfection personified. His quirks, his presence, even his stinkiest toots, are endearing to me. My love for him is fierce and unconditional. What if I turned this lens of unconditional love towards myself?

What if I loved my quirks, my voice, my face, and my body with the same fervor and acceptance? What if I saw my ‘belly’ as endearingly as Otis’s toots? What if I embraced every aspect of myself with the same protective, unconditional love I have for him? This shift in perspective isn’t just about self-acceptance; it’s about falling deeply, irrevocably in love with the one person who’s been with me through every high and low—myself.

So, as I stand before the mirror, I choose to see the love of my life staring back at me. I choose to embrace every flaw, every strength, every fear, and every dream. For in this reflection, I find not just the love of my life, but the essence of my ‘Big Bold Vision.’ It’s a vision that doesn’t seek external validation but revels in the authentic expression of my true self.

In this journey of self-discovery and self-love, I invite you to join me. Look in the mirror, not with a critical eye, but with the loving gaze you reserve for your dearest ones. See the beauty, the strength, the resilience, and the love that’s been there all along. Meet the love of your life, and together, let’s dance to the rhythm of our ‘Big Bold Vision.’ Because when you fall in love with the person in the mirror, the world doesn’t just change; it transforms into a place where every reflection is a reminder of unconditional love and boundless potential.
