Dear Friends,

This is the first of many letters from us in this space. It is also an invitation—one that asks you to decide if you want to be part of what we’re building or if this is where we part ways.

We are done playing by the rules of platforms that exploit, divide, and manipulate. We are done giving our energy to systems that profit from our silence while the world around us burns. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to participate in spaces that erase, suppress, and commodify the voices of those who refuse to fit into neat, profitable boxes.

So we are taking our stories, our voices, our work—our whole, unruly, magic-filled lives—elsewhere.

We talk a lot about the island—the space where chosen family and real community exist. A place where queer families, neurodivergent minds, mixed-race kids, truth-tellers, artists, misfits, and anyone who refuses to shrink don’t just survive, but thrive.

We are building that island. If you’re with us, you are welcome here. If not, we release you with love.

We are writers, creators, and partners in life. Our work is separate, but deeply intertwined.

📖 Magic in the Mess (Molly’s book & Substack) explores the beauty in life’s chaos—the creative, raw, imperfect spaces where transformation happens. It’s about listening to the internal nudges that guide us, even when they disrupt everything we thought we knew.

🌀 Unruly Grace (Kelly’s Substack & upcoming book) is about redefining success, unlearning the narratives that keep us small, and building a life that actually fits. It’s about the messy, necessary work of stepping fully into who we are, without apology.

Together, these spaces challenge the expectations placed on us—by society, by culture, by the systems that tell us we must perform a certain way to be worthy.

We are done with Facebook. Done with Instagram. Done with giving away our energy to billionaires who want us numb, distracted, and compliant.

Instead, we are investing in real conversation, deep connection, and intentional spaces. That means moving everything to Substack, where our words won’t be buried by an algorithm, where we can share without censorship, and where we can actually build something meaningful with the people who want to be here.

• We got married! 🎉 On November 11, 2023, we chose each other fully and officially.

• We are leaving Tennessee this summer and moving to Pittsburgh—seeking a more inclusive community where we can raise our queer family safely.

• Kelly is releasing a book this summer, and Molly continues to expand Magic in the Mess into deeper conversations and community.

• Olive and Otis (our very opinionated dogs) are, as always, running the household and making sure we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

This is not a casual request. This is a line in the sand.

We are choosing integrity over convenience, depth over distraction, and truth over passive consumption.

If you believe in a world where people get to live freely, fully, and without apology—we invite you to the island.

If not, we release you with love.
